Córdoba is about 140 km (87 miles) from Seville by road, and also linked by high-speed train. A day could look like this:

What you will discover

  1. The Mosque-Cathedral

    Begun in the late 8th century and enlarged for two centuries by the Umayyad emirs and caliphs, the mosque of Córdoba grew into a forest of columns and two-tone arches. In the 16th century a Renaissance cathedral was built inside it. Understanding how the two spaces coexist is the key to the visit.

  2. A city of three cultures

    Córdoba was capital of the Umayyad caliphate and one of the largest cities in Europe. In the Jewish quarter, the medieval synagogue and the memory of Maimonides are reminders that the city’s history cannot be told in a single voice.

  3. The river and the Roman bridge

    The bridge over the Guadalquivir, Roman in origin and much rebuilt, offers the best view of the historic centre and leads to the Calahorra tower.
